  1. Hi Tori! Thanks for the chance to win this awesome prize pack! What I love most about my math block is the portion of time we spend on spiral review.I found some great resources that the students absolutely love!I also like any opportunity to use creative manipulatives like candy math activities!

  3. Tori, I have been soaking up all of your great tips about Daily 5. I am teaching Daily 5 for the first time this year at my new job. I will be checking out these math resources as well. What I love best about my math block this year is that, though my class is mixed age (K-2), I will have only second graders for math. I have wanted to teach second grade for a long time because I love that stage of development.

  4. My favorite part of math is when I pull my kids for small groups. I get to really meet their needs and I love when they finally get that "light bulb" and they learn something new. Such a great feeling as a teacher!

  5. My favorite part of math is math games...the kids love them and don't even realize they are reinforcing math skills!

  9. I am flipping my math this year so I need lots of center activities for my students. I love "needing" things for students to do instead of always trying to cram things in and never having enough time!

  22. I don't love much about my math block, lol! Which is sad, because math is my favorite subject! I've tried a million things, and nothing has ever felt right. One year I always started with a 5-7 minute warm-up, and that was really nice, but I never got into the swing of that last year, so it wasn't great. I'm also REALLY bad at changing the centers, but I love your way of doing "centers" where they don't need quite so many "things" all at the same time. I'm also really bad at pulling small groups, but a real routine like this would be really helpful to me! I guess what I like best is teaching my whole-group lesson on the carpet, and seeing how excited the kids are to use the Promethean Board. Oh, I also love when the kids get to work together on some serious problem solving!

I love your Daily 3 idea, and I also really like the format on this blog: http://www.3rdgradethoughts.com/2013/02/math-rotations-lesson-work.html which is kind of similar to yours - I would love to figure out how to merge these 2 together! (Sorry, that was a really long post!)

  45. I love that once the students have finished the day's activity, they are eager to go a play a "Math Game" to reinforce previously learned skills. They don't realize that they are learning and actually doing work not just "playing a game".

  70. I also do a math center-type of instruction. Last year we had everyday math. I had a whole group time. Then we had 3 center rotations: with teacher, math boxes with aide, either a game or fact practice. I really liked having that small group time. This year we have a new math program, expressions, so my math time will need to change a bit, with a bigger focus on problem-solving.
