Award!

I'm back with my official thank you to Tonya@ Tonya's Treats for Teachers and Patti @ Tales From a 4th (and 5th) Grade Teacher for giving me this award:

I can't thank you both enough for sharing this with me!  I have had a lot of fun(and spending WAY too much time) getting lost in blog land!  I have learned some great ideas and have tried to push myself to keep up with all the great bloggers out there!

Now there are a few rules to follow when receiving this award.
1. Thank the blogger who nominated you.  Done :)
2. Include a link to their site. Please check them out- they are great!
3. Include the award image in your post. Done :)
4. Give 7 random facts about yourself. See below
5. Nominate 15 other bloggers for the award. Workin' on it!
6. When nominating, include a link to their site. Ok...
7. Let other bloggers know they've been nominated.

Now for the 7 random facts about myself:

 1. I am currently teaching in the same district that I grew up in.  It is sometimes strange to be going to conferences with my former teachers!  One time I ended up in the bathroom with my absolute FAVORITE teacher growing up (fifth grade) 20 years later!!  I quietly walked up to her and told her who I was (as she was washing her hands!)... I couldn't believe she remembered me. We had a nice long talk by the sink :)

2. I had blue eyes until I was 3.  So the story (as my mom tells it) ... I had blue eyes when I went to sleep shortly after turning 3 and I woke up the next day with green eyes!   I am the only one in my familiy with green eyes.  Many people tell me they are like "cat eyes," and they get greener if I wear something green.
Ok, they are not that green, but you get the idea! :)
3.  I met my husband in another state and gave him my phone number not knowing where he was from.  It turned out that he lived 30 minutes from me.  We had our first date almost a year later.

4.  Speaking of my husband... he's an ice sculptor.  Yes you heard that right.  We met because I was visiting a friend who is a reporter and she was doing a story on him.. I was tagging along.  He and I talked more than she talked to him!  He owns a sculpting business and can make pretty much anything you can think of .... in.... ice.  The bad part?  It melts!  For our wedding he made a pretty "cool" ice bar with ice shot glasses.  People are still talking about that. :)

Here he is doing this thing at my school!

5. My sister is 16 years older than I am and my brother is 14 years older. Yes you guessed it... oops! My mom tried for 7 years after my brother and then she gave up. Well 7 years later... I came!

6. One Easter my sister thought it would be fun to get me an egg to hatch (I was probably in sixth grade). She brought the incubator and the whole nine yards. Well a little chick did hatch and I loved that thing until one day at 2 a.m. it started crowing... cock-a-doodle-doo... yep that chick was not a chicken... it was a rooster! So now I have fun telling my students that I once lived with a rooster. :)

7. When I graduated college, my parents surprised me with a trip to Europe. So on our very first day there (in Spain) we overheard people talking about a "bull fight"... I said to my dad... we are in SPAIN we NEED to see this! So we get tickets and go. Big mistake. Little nieve me thought we would see some bulls running around a matador with a red flag... like on the cartoons. Nope. The matador and bull fight to the death. By the THIRD bull I was now in full panic mode (and there would be six bulls that night). So I said a long prayer....for rain (we were in an outdoor stadium). YOU WOULD NOT EVEN BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED NEXT... it rained! No joke! I like to think I saved 3 bulls that day.

Now I am going to give this award to a few awesome bloggers.... make sure you check them out!!
