So with that... let's do a giveaway!  It's not a fancy smancy one but one that shows my up most appreciation for my followers!  So I am going to give ONE WINNER the chance to WIN .....

  Wowsers! :)

*****Remember to leave your email in all your comments*****

I'm so excited for you to win!!  This will end in 5 days~ Wednesday Night at 10 p.m. Central time.
Good luck!!

OK before I go... I leave you with one quick share...
So we are learning about the solar system and we made this totally cool project:
So there is a "brad" on the sun and on the Earth.  You can make the Earth revolve/orbit around the sun and you can show the rotation of the Earth.  Then you can see the Moon revolve around the Earth too!  This was a HUGE learning tool for the kids and they loved making them (they totally came up with making each object "look" like it should and added the white crayon for the stars~ brilliant!).  Once complete, their homework was to teach someone at home about how it works.  It was so fun and I love how they turned out!
I have more to share I just FORGOT to take pictures :(  I'll post again about it!

Thanks for reading and don't forget to "enter" the giveaway!

  3. For math, my 4th grade team and I have the kids rotate. Right now we're all teaching multiplication and division to our leveled groups. Starting in October, we'll each have a "strand" (I'm fractions this year) that we'll teach to all from groups. It's great to get to know all of the kids and to really focus on teaching one aspect of the curriculum, but it's so hard to fit a math workshop type teaching into our 1 hour time slot AND teach it to each new group of kids.

Here's my post about my first attempts with math workshop: http://aplacetothrive.blogspot.com/2012/09/math-workshop.html

  6. My Kindergartners are just learning about most and least and using a pictograph to record the results. My favorite part is when they learn their double facts and doubles plus one addition facts.

thanks for a chance to win. :)

  7. My first grade math time: whole group lesson (I try to keep it to 10-15 minutes), then group time rotations: 1 is with me, another is with an aide, and the third is workbook time.

  9. We do a version of curriculum "compacting" and pre-test the students each 9 weeks to group them according to their knowledge about the unit's skills. I'm attempting a math workshop model this year (mini lesson followed by center rotations). So far, I love it because I have more time to meet with small flexible groups. I would LOVE your writing/math task card bundle!!

  13. Math Time - Almost every day is basically the same routine. I like the same routine... First math fact practice, then new concept math notes, then guided practice, then independent practice/work with partners, then review together/correct independent practice, then math games to review past concepts.

  16. We do EveryDay Math at my school, so I don't have to come up with much of my own stuff, but every year I have several kiddos who struggle with place value and the Base-10 concept. So I do a Lunch-n-Learn once a week. They bring their lunch into the room and we eat together and practice place value skills. They actually see it as fun because they get to eat lunch in the room, and I have kiddos begging to join the group!

  48. For math, my kids enjoy Friday fun centers. Your activity: Money-Counting Change Activity- would be a great fit when we are on the money unit.
My TIP: My kids where a laminated rectangle of construction paper hanging from yarn so they know which group they are in for the morning. Then I write the 4 centers on my whiteboard and rotate matching colored magnets next to the center name. Very simple and easy to keep track of.

  51. For math, I do centers and whole group every day. I'm hoping (fingers crossed!) to start doing small groups either this week or next. I try to do a lot of number sense activities for my centers since that's where a lot of my kids struggle. But I just got the Debbie Dillar Math Work Stations book and am super excited to read it and she what she says!!
